Thomas A. Beckman

Thomas A. Beckman, 62, died Nov. 16, 2007 at his Falmouth home.

Services for Mr. Beckman were held Nov. 19 at Houghton Lake Baptist Church, with Pastor Stephen Milam officiating. Burial was in Butterfield Township Cemetery, Merritt.

Born on Dec. 22, 1944 in Wayne, he was the son of Alfred and Anna Marie (Lane) Beckman. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in Chesaning, graduating in 1962. On June 21, 1974 in Owosso, he married Lucy A. Hobart, who survives.

Mr. Beckman retired in 1997 from General Motors, where he worked in the Buick Plant in Flint. He was a member of UAW Local 599. Mr. Beckman served in the U.S. Army in the 1960's. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman, along with being a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was also an active member of Houghton Lake Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Lucy Beckman of Falmouth, Mr. Beckman is survived by two daughters, Kim (Trevor) Trathen of Hawaii and Sarah Beckman of Falmouth; one son, Thomas Beckman of Falmouth; three grandchildren, Erica, Erika and Erin; two sisters, Charlotte (Paul) Kemppainen of Chesaning and Mary (Paul) Dowd of Chesaning; five brothers, Jack (Norma) Beckman of Wernersville, PA, Mike (Joyce) Beckman of Chesaning, Phil (Carol) Beckman of Chesaning, Chris (Patty) Beckman of Toledo, OH, and Don (and friend, Dawn) of St. Charles; his mother-in-law, Mary Hobart of East Tawas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice. Christler Funeral Home - Houghton Lake Chapel, handled the arrangements.
