Women’s bowling group to meet
      The Houghton Lake USBC Women’s Bowling Association will hold its annual membership and awards meeting March 25 at Goodyear Lanes, Houghton Lake. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. and all sanctioned women bowlers in Roscommon County are welcome to attend. The league also held a 9 pin-no-tap tournament Feb. 27 and 28 with Sandy Duggar of Roscommon winning.

      The Roscommon County Christian Softball league will hold its annual organizational meeting March 30 at 7 p.m. at Markey Community Baptist Church. Carey sets scoring record in Buck’s loss at Petoskey
      Roscommon’s varsity boys basketball team put the Petoskey Northmen on the ropes in their 1st quarter District Tournament game March 10 as the Bucks took an 18-15 lead. But the Northmen, who entered the tournament with a 20-1 record, regrouped in the 2nd quarter and took a 36-26 lead into the locker room at halftime then went on to win 64-49.

      Registration and spring clinics are planned as the Roscommon-St. Helen Little League 2010 season gets underway. A postcard with season timelines has been sent to all players who played last year and a flyer was also sent home with all Roscommon and St. Helen Elementary and Roscommon Middle School students.

      Sign-up for Houghton Lake Little League will take place at Houghton Lake High School March 20 and 24. Players and coaches may register from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20 and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 24. The registration fee is $40 per child or $100 per family.
