Junior Bobcats win 3 of 4 with McBain, Grayling nines
Houghton Lakes junior varsity softball team has won three of its four outings with McBain and Grayling.
Coach Vikki Blanchards team beat McBain 7-6 but lost the second game 5-3 on April 12. Then the Bobcats swept Grayling 17-2 and 16-0 on April 16.
McBain
Allyssa Kunik pitched five innings striking out nine batters and allowing only one hit in the Bobcats 7-6 victory. Amy Chrispell hit two for three, Amanda Lobeck was one for three.
In the second game Kunik pitched another five innings striking out five batters. Hayley Collins was one for two, her hit a double and Amy Gancitano was one for one and Chrispell one for two.
My girls did an excellent job executing both offensively and defensively, despite only going outside three times. Were looking forward to a good season, Coach Blanchard said.
Grayling
Kunik pitched the first game striking out six of 12 batters in the Bobcats 17-2 victory. She also help-ed her cause by hitting two for two.
Devon Clifford pitched the second game shutting out the Vikings 16-0 with the help of her team mates and their outstanding defense. Clifford also helped her cause by going two for two with a home run and four RBIs. Lobeck was five for seven with four RBIs; Mary Domsitz was two for two with a double and three RBIs and Gancitano was two for two.
The girls continued to execute on the field making plays and hitting the ball hard. They are playing with determination and desire. I am very pleased with their dedication and commitment. It was definitely a total team effort to come out with two wins, Coach Blanchard said.
