11 6th inning runs provide Bobcat victory

Houghton Lake’s varsitiy softball team split two games with Grayling, on the Viking’s diamond Tuesday, winning 23-15 but losing 10-7.
In the first game the Bobcats found themselves down by two runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Cats then loaded the bases and had two outs before erupting with 11 runs.
Ashley Warden, Malissa Blake and Stacey Myers all scored two runs in the inning. Angie Combs was the Cats largest offensive weapon scoring four runs. Warden earned the victory while Arica Drogt played a great defensive game at short stop.
The Cats lost the second game 10-7. Becky Skellenger scored two runs and Arica Drogt continued her great defensive play.
“When we learn to do the little mental things we need to do we’ll win these close games,” Coach Rob Kunik said.
The Bobcats face Gladwin April 18 and Lake City April 23, both games are at home.
