Vera E. Warner

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday for Vera E. Warner, 86, of Houghton Lake who died Nov. 10, 2005 at King Nursing Centre.

The service will be held at Christler Funeral Home - Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. Calvin Long officiating. Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.

Born on Sept. 17, 1919 in Belding, she was the daughter of James and Ethel (Schlappi) Miller. She married Merle Warner in Ithaca on March 26, 1964. Mrs. Warner lived in Lansing before moving to Houghton Lake in 1969. She graduated from Lansing Central High School in 1937 and worked for the State of Michigan for many years. Mrs. Warner was also the former owner of the property now known as Abel Manufactured Housing.

Survivors include her husband, Merle of Houghton Lake; three sons, Mark and Theresa Furst of Cedarville, Merle and Shannon Warner Jr. of Sterling Heights and Brett and Tricia Warner of Holt; two daughters, Jill and Rick Abel of Houghton Lake and Susan Otterman of East Lansing; a sister, Arlene and Jack Courter of Grand Ledge; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robin Warner, in 1988 and two brothers, Jack and Maynard.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch. Christler Funeral Home - Houghton Lake Chapel handled the arrangements.
