Gymnastics, cheerleading classes begin registration
A class for kids three and older is being taught this summer by Michelle Johnson at Houghton Lake High School.
The first set of classes will be held twice a week for three weeks beginning June 4 and ending June 20. The cost is $43 per child plus a $10 4-H membership fee if this is your first program of the year.
Classes for beginners ages six to nine will take place from 4:45 to 5:35 p.m. This group will work on rolls, hand stands, cartwheels, back bends, turns and jumps. Classes for beginners ages three to five will take place from 5:40 to 6:30 p.m. and classes for intermediate ages 10 and up will take place from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m.
The second program offered is a three day "cheernastics" camp. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 23-25, open to youths ages 6 to 14. The class will focus on a combination of cheerleading and gymnastics skills including stretching, jumps, precision drills, gymnastics, stunting and cheering.
The cost is $80 per child plus the $10 4-H membership. Each child will receive a T-shirt and there will be a show on the final day of camp.
