Roscommon golf finishes third, second

The Roscommon girls' golf team played well May 5 and May 7, placing third at Petoskey's Bay View Golf Club and second at the Farwell Lady Eagles Invitational at Eagle Glen Golf Course.

At Petoskey --

Bay View Golf Club

Roscommon as a team finished with 212 and had six golfers compete in this nine-hole tournament, with the lowest four scores counting towards their overall score.

Kristina Forreider led the Bucks with a 47, good enough for fourth place individually, in this four-school meet which included Grayling, Petoskey, and Traverse City St. Francis.

Marissa Luck shot a 53 for the Lady Bucks, and both Beth Freer and Autumn Smith shot 56. Not qualifying were Cara Johnson, who shot a 59, and Maria Moore, who shot 72.

Farwell Invitational --

Eagle Glen Golf Club

The lowest four scores again counted in this 18-hole meet at Farwell. Freer shot a personal 18- hole best of 91, good enough for first place individually. Her teammate Forreider shot a 96, good enough for second place and also a personal best on 18 holes.

Despite having the top two golfers in the tournament, Roscommon lacked consistency throughout the team. Luck finished with a score of 116 and Smith finished with a 125. Johnson missed qualifying with a score of 134. Roscommon finished two strokes out of first place.
