JV drops two

The Houghton Lake JV softball team dropped both of their games against Harrison May 10, falling narrowly in game one 8-7 and dropping game two 5-19.

Harrison 8, Houghton Lake 7

Miranda Gardner was the losing pitcher for the 'Cats, allowing eight runs in six innings of work.

Molly Bigford was the leading Bobcat hitter, batting a perfect 4- 4. Shauni Nielsen and Alicia Gillman both added a couple of hits for the 'Cats.

"The girls did an outstanding job," said coach Amber Sergeant. "They hit the ball well and played solid defense."

Harrison 19, Houghton Lake 5

The 'Cats lost game two of the double header in a rout, allowing 19 runs in five innings of work.

"Harrison got their timing on Gardner and hit the ball well," Sergeant said. "Combine that with a few more errors than the first game and you get a score of 5-19."

Elise Brotebeck led the way for Houghton Lake, batting 2-3.
