      Gerarda (Gé) Van Lunsen (center) received a surprise Sunday, when about 50 relatives arrived from as far away as the Netherlands to celebrate her 90th birthday. Gathering at the Riviera Resort to be with Gé were family members from Canada, Mexico and several U.S. states.

St. John plans July Bible School
      St. John Lutheran Church, Houghton Lake, this year will hold its Vacation Bible School in July for the first time. "Water Works Park, Where Kids Ride the Wave of God" is the theme for the school, scheduled for July 23-27. Classes will be held from 8:45 a.m. to noon each day. In an opening skit, children will meet "Petunia and Koko.

Car wash, bake sale to send youth to camp
      camp, New Hope Chapel youths will have a car wash at Glen's Market July 7 beginning at 10 a.m. Also, on July 13, they will host a bake sale at Wal-Mart. The youth camp is in Breckenridge and will be ministering on the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

      The family of Gerarda "Gé"Van Lunsen of Roscommon conspired to surprise her for her 90th birthday. For about nine months, her daughter, Dorothy Yakes of Prudenville, began asking relatives far and wide to arrange to meet the weekend of July 1 for a family gathering for Ge' at the Riviera Resort, Prudenville.
