DNR should cinch its financial belt
      Lansing's cadre of state government insiders refuses to understand that citizens of Michigan are fed up with funding state bureaucracies that squander their taxpayer dollars and user fees on bloated wages for duplicative or unneeded activities.

Arizona city allows ORV, ATV use
      My wife and I had the opportunity to spend some time in Lake Havasu City, Arizona recently. Lake Havasu City is a resort community located on the Colorado River with a population of 55,000 people. Off -road vehicles, both the smaller ATV type and the larger side-by-side seating type share all city streets with automobile traffic.

Neighbor's behavior disrupted tour
      I must say I am surprised and appalled by the immature, childish behavior displayed by one of our Houghton Lake residents. It is a shame that several hundred people who spent their time and money to visit six gardens on the Kirtland Garden Club annual garden tour could not enjoy their day without being exposed to a mean-spirited individual.

Officers should make what teachers do
      As I read the Resorter today, I saw where Denton Township hired a new police officer. Do police officers really start at a meager $15.40 per hour? And, after three years they get another $3 to make a total of $18.40 per hour. Wow, $123.20 per day or $616 per week before taxes.
