Supreme President Labor to visit Does Aug. 24-26
The 87th Supreme President of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does of the United State of America Dianne F. Labor will visit Houghton-Higgins Drove 149 Aug. 24-26. Labor comes from the Rapid City Drove 33, South Dakota.
Since joining the Does in 1962, Labor has served many offices at the local level. In 1971, she served as drove president. In 1972, she was elect3d as grand lodge supreme historian and has served on numerous grand lodge committees.
She co-chaired the 2003 convention in Rapid City, SD, and was elected supreme president at the 2007 national convention in Chandler, AZ.
Labor's interest in the outdoors and the Girl Scouts head to her serving a five-year presidency of the Black Hills Girl Scout Council. She served for 10 years as the director for Camp Friendship, a camp for disabled adults and youths. She earned her undergraduate and master's degrees in elementary education and administration, in which fields she served for 35 years.
Labor has three children and seven grandchildren. Her husband, Bob, and son, Dean, are members of Rapid City Elks Lodge 1187.
The Labors will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary while the Does celebrate their 50th anniversary as a benevolent and patriotic organization.
Planned for Labor's visit are a Friday afternoon boat ride on Houghton Lake, followed by dinner at the Elks Lodge. A brunch is planned for Saturday at Coyles Restaurant, where questions will be answered. That evening at the Elks, a Does meeting is planned for 5 p.m., with dinner and dancing afterward.
