Join 'Great Michigan Read'

"Nick Adams Stories" by Ernest Hemingway, featured book of the Great Michigan Read program, is available at the Richfield Township Public Library in St. Helen.

Great Michigan Read, a yearlong program of the Michigan Humanities Council, began July 9. Over the next year, Michigan residents are being encouraged to read "Nick Adams Stories," most of which are set in Michigan. The Humanities Council hopes the program will help residents connect with literature in a state where 18% of adults are functionally illiterate. For a scheduled of events and programs, see www.greatmichiganread. org.

The Richfield Township Public Library is open Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information, call 389- 7630.
