NEW OWNERS AT OLD TOWN

Jerry and Debra Cheney recently became the owners of JD's Old Town Tavern at 1741 Heightsview Dr., Houghton Lake Heights. The couple has been renovating the venerable bar since they took over in October, and hope to expand its kitchen in the near future. Monday is Lady's Day and Thursday is Men's Day with well drinks and beer for $1.50. The Cheneys, who are both recently retired auto workers with four children and nine grandchildren, said they plan to sponsor pool, shuffleboard and softball teams at JD's Old Town again, and may take part in a new euchre league. Hours are 9 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. Friday through Sunday. Call 422-6000.
