83RD DISTRICT COURT
Judge Daniel Sutton
      Judge Daniel L. Sutton recently arraigned the following in 83rd District Court, Roscommon: Dennis M. Nordstrom, 55, St. Helen, waived preliminary examination and was bound over to Circuit Court where he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon. Richfield Township Police made the Feb. 22 arrest. Bond was set at $5,000.

Missaukee investigating possible robbery attempt
      The Missaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible attempted bank robbery after deputies were alerted April 11 about a suspicious man in the City of McBain. Police have identified the suspect as Richard Grass, 39, of the Midland area, also believed to be involved in the Citizens Bank robbery in Falmouth.

PERENNIAL PROBLEM
     Houghton Lake resident Frank Porter (left) listens to Roscommon County Road Commission Foreman Bob Bedell explain the drainage problem which caused Porter's property at 141 Nottingham St. in Lake Township to flood during heavy rains on Thursday night and Friday last week. Porter said he has experienced the same problem every spring for the last 20 years and asked Bedell when it would be fixed. Bedell, whose crew was busy clearing drain pipes clogged with leaves and branches, said the old drain pipes needed to be replaced and that perhaps the township could allocate funding for such a project. Suchowesky ordered to work
      Prudenville resident Terry Suchowesky, in a hearing April 8 before 34th Circuit Judge Michael Baumgartner, was ordered to obtain a full-time job within 60 days so she may pay court assessments ordered last October during her sentencing on an embezzlement charge. The change was an amendment to the probation order.

Burglars, squirrels damage cabin
      Burglars who stole $230 worth of goods from a Backus Township cabin opened the way for squirrels to enter the building and cause $3,000 in damage. The owner told Roscommon County Sheriff's deputies April 12 that someone broke into his cabin since his last visit in February. He said a .22-caliber rifle, an alarm clock, tools and household goods were taken.

34TH CIRCUIT COURT
Judge Michael Baumgartner
      Judge Michael Baumgartner heard these cases in 34th Circuit Court, Roscommon, April 17: Bradley B. Berger, 21, St. Helen, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted breaking and entering (both amended from second degree home invasion). A charge of domestic violence, third offense was dismissed. Berger will be sentenced later.
