'Our pockets have holes in them'

Here it is May 29, 2008 and I'm writing about our wonderful school superintendent Pete Injasoulian as he is at it again. Now he wants to privatize the custodians. Why doesn't he take about a $75,000 a year pay cut. That would help.

Many years ago West Branch - Rose City consolidated schools. It has worked. Maybe it's time we did that. The elderly on fixed incomes and the younger couples getting low wages can't afford more taxes! We have so many vacant buildings here in what use to be beautiful Houghton Lake. You, Pete, had better come up with something we can live with (after all not all of us own businesses) or make your wages. Consolidate, retire, do something but ask us to dig deeper. Our pockets have holes in them. Many of us retired many years ago. That means less money in our pockets! Trade incomes with me for two years then maybe you will understand.

(Editor's note: Privatizing the custodial services is estimated to save the school system over $250,000 annually, according to school administrators.)

Do you think pressure from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students on legislators will have an effect on gun control?
