Rough earns health care compliance designation
      Christine Rough, West Branch Regional Medical Center's corporate compliance and privacy officer, recently completed the Certified in Healthcare Compliance Examination, earning her a "CHC" designation. The CHC Examination has been available since 2000. Since that time, more than 1,700 individuals have earned the professional credential.

Red Cross makes 'urgent' appeal; drive Aug. 4 here
      With the Great Lakes Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross's urgent appeal for blood donations, a blood drive will be held Aug. 4 at St. John Lutheran Church, Houghton Lake. The Red Cross is asking eligible donors to give blood in the next two weeks as blood bank levels are low.

      This class has one goal - to put out the fire for lighting up a cigarette. The American Lung Association's Freedom from Smoking Program will begin Aug. 12 at Mercy Hospital Grayling's Gallery Room. Participants will learn proven methods to quit tobacco in a supportive and fun group environment.
