      We thought Houghton Lake businessman Dean Hull was joking at first. But, we found out he is quite correct. Michigan's Business Tax (MBT), which was spawned in the midnight hours of last Oct 1st, right after the state's rest areas closed for a couple of hours, has made the state coffers quite healthy again. Healthy to the tune of a 57.

      A decrease in highway fatalities has resulted from the steep increase in gasoline prices a study has recently determined. And, if the decrease in highway fatalities continues 2008 could have the lowest highway fatalities since John Kennedy became president in 1961.

      After attending a service at a government-sanctioned church during his visit to China for the opening of the Olympic Games, President Bush made a brief statement. "No state, man or woman should fear the influence of loving religion," he said. According to The Washington Times, Bush also pressed Chinese President Hu Jintao to grant more religious freedom to his people.
