Nancy Jean Bashore Smith

Nancy Jean Bashore Smith, 71, died Aug. 1, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Abbeville, SC.

According to Mrs. Smith's wishes, no services were held.

Mrs. Smith was born in St. Johns April 17, 1937, the daughter of Gladys and Ora Bashore. The family moved to Houghton Lake from Ovid in 1946. She married Joseph Elmer Smith of Houghton Lake. They moved to Lake Worth, FL, and then relocated to Port Charlotte, FL. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was known as a skilled business woman, mostly noted for Rose Jewelers and for Smith Construction.

Also predeceased were her parents; son, Joseph Robert Smith; and sister, Carol Ann (Bashore) Wood.

Surviving are her brother, Orie Lee Bashore of Lansing; two daughters, Debra Crews of Venice, FL, and Penny Parisi of Abbeville, SC; six grandchildren, Candice, Jeremy, Joseph, Joanna, Michelle and Joseph.
