Verna E. Millard

Verna E. Millard, 86, Higgins Lake, died Aug. 29, 2008, at Mercy Hospital, Grayling.

Graveside services were held Aug. 30 at Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township. Arrangements were by Walsh Funeral Home Roscommon.

Mrs. Millard was born March 16, 1922, in Calumet. Her parents were Walter and Agnes (Hammerstrom) Olson. She formerly worked as a waitress at the Rialto Restaurant in Ferndale. She and Vernon Millard were united in marriage Jan. 16, 1948, in Highland Park. They lived in Royal Oak before moving to Higgins Lake in 1986. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2000. She was a member of the Higgins Lake TOPS Club and attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Roscommon.

Surviving are her son, Ronald Millard of Muncie, IN; niece, Fern Loop of Wisconsin; and friends, Pat and Barney Elletson of Troy.
