Grant Carey recorded his fourth shutout of the year in what Coach Mark Dalak called the "biggest" win of the season for his Roscommon High School varsity soccer squad Tuesday night. The Bucks topped visiting Cadillac, 2-0. Carey recorded seven saves and "made some unbelievable diving fingertip saves" during the win. More ... Houghton Lake's Melvin Fulcher, 76, walked the Mackinac Bridge for the first time this past Labor Day, and he shared the experience with his daughter, Diane Atiyeh, 51, and grandson, Darren Atiyeh, 13, both of Novi. Fulcher said he spent the summer getting ready for the walk, recording six miles a day in preparation. He said the best part of the walk was being with his daughter and grandson, who he also taught how to waterski. In fact, Fulcher said the trio still waterskis together on Houghton Lake each summer. Department of Natural Resources officials say conditions are right for a good season. Rabbit and squirrel are numerous almost statewide.
