THREE GENERATIONS WALK BRIDGE

Houghton Lake's Melvin Fulcher, 76, walked the Mackinac Bridge for the first time this past Labor Day, and he shared the experience with his daughter, Diane Atiyeh, 51, and grandson, Darren Atiyeh, 13, both of Novi. Fulcher said he spent the summer getting ready for the walk, recording six miles a day in preparation. He said the best part of the walk was being with his daughter and grandson, who he also taught how to waterski. In fact, Fulcher said the trio still waterskis together on Houghton Lake each summer.
