DENTON BUCKS
     (Left, left to right) Russell Hughes of Lennon and his uncle Dick Brooks of Houghton Lake were hunting in Denton Township Nov. 23 when each of them bagged their buck. Hughes' deer was a 3-point that dressed out at 135 pounds and was his first deer with a firearm. Brooks shot a 6-point that dressed out at 125 pounds. The nephew's buck came along at around 9 a.m., while the uncle's showed up at 4:30 p.m. Brooks said he thinks the current ban on baiting has resulted in more deer moving during daylight hours. (TRP)

Brochure details ORV ordinance
      Roscommon County Mapping and Systems Department has published brochures containing the new Roscommon County ORV ordinance and a map showing ORV routes. Robin Seymour, administrative assistant to county commissioners, said brochures have been delivered to chambers of commerce, ORV dealers and some township halls.

Trailblazers hosting snowmobile safety
      The Houghton Lake Trailblazers Snowmobile Club will host a snowmobile safety class Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Roscommon Township Hall. The club will provide free lunch, snacks and drinks. Participants must attend the entire class to receive a certificate. The class is required for children ages 12 to 16.
