Deputies recover stolen handgun

One of 12 handguns a Prudenville man brought to the Roscommon County Sheriff's Department to register Dec. 18 was discovered to have been stolen in Nashville, TN.

When deputies conducted a records check as part of the registration, one of the guns was listed as stolen. The Prudenville resident told deputies he purchased for $210 the weapon at a gun show in Nashville in 2003 or 2004. He said all that was required for the purchase was a valid Tennessee driver's license.

Deputies are continuing their investigation.
