Red Cross makes 'urgent' appeal; drive Aug. 4 here

With the Great Lakes Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross's urgent appeal for blood donations, a blood drive will be held Aug. 4 at St. John Lutheran Church, Houghton Lake.

The Red Cross is asking eligible donors to give blood in the next two weeks as blood bank levels are low. The Red Cross is also calling for individuals, community or religious organizations and businesses to consider hosting a blood drive this summer or fall.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. For information, visit www.redcrossmichigan. org or call (800) GIVE-LIFE.

The Aug. 4th drive at St. John has a goal of 61 donors. Appointments are not necessary but can be arranged by calling Kathryn Hall at 422- 5238. The drive will be held from noon to 5:45 p.m.
