Ralph B. Radina

Ralph B. Radina, 81, Houghton Lake, formerly of Richville, died Aug. 20, 2008.

A service was held Monday, Aug. 25, at St. John Lutheran Church, Prudenville, with the Rev. William Winter officiating. Visitation was at the Christler Funeral Home Prudenville Chapel. Burial was in St. Michael's Lutheran Cemetery, Richville. Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice, Grayling, St. John Lutheran Church, Prudenville, or Richville Fire Department. Mr. Radina was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Tuscola County, the son of the late Nick and Bertha (Heinlein) Radina. He graduated from Vassar High School. He and Kathryn "Katy" Schluckbier were united in marriage March 26, 1949, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Richville. His wife survives.

Mr. Radina was selfemployed as a building contractor most of his life and served as building inspector in Denmark Township. He was a former member of St. Michael's and served the church in various offices, including the building committee. He served with the Richville Fire Department for 35 years and attained the rank of assistant chief.

His other memberships included the Richville Conservation Club, where he served as an officer and board member, the Richville Boy Scouts, and Richville Little League, where he was a past manager.

After moving to Houghton Lake in 1989, he became a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Prudenville. He became active in the Houghton Lake Lake Association, where he served as a board member.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, William Radina and Kenneth Radina.

Besides his wife, surviving are his two sons and their spouses, Kim and Debra Radina of Saginaw, and Kurt and Kim Ann Radina of Reese; grandchildren, Ryan, Travis, Sean, Tara and Alexandra.
