Robert Albert Croskey

Services for Robert Albert Croskey, 81, who died Sept. 1, 2008, at Grayling Mercy Hospital,

will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, with Chaplin Jim Siler officiating.

Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township. Visitation hours was scheduled Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider the American Lung Association. Condolences may be left at www.christler-holdship. com.

Mr. Croskey was born in Johnstown, PA, Sept. 2, 1926, to the late Joseph and Mary (Stessney) Croskey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, including the Philippines and Japan. He and Laurene E. Wright were united in marriage Sept. 28, 1959, in Detroit.

He worked for many years at Burroughs Corp (Unisys) before retiring in 1990. He and his wife had moved from Westland to the Markey Township area in 1996.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Fred.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Laurene; three daughters, Sue Christiansen of Ocala, FL, Nancy Brewer of Saline, and Kellie and her husband David Chambo of McHenry, IL; son, Robert and his wife Carrie Croskey of Westland; four grandchildren, Brandy, David, Joshua and Lindsey; one brother, Francis and his wife Helen Croskey of Canton; brother-in-law, Ronald and his wife Donna Wright of Westland; and several nieces and nephews.
