ANNUAL RACE

Windsurfers from around the country compete in the annual Higgins Lake Regatta at the South Higgins Lake State Park Sept. 6. Mark Beauman of Great Lakes Windsurfing, Haslett, said 15 to 20 racers entered this year's event. Higgins Lake residents Dave Batchelor and Ronda Cook, also of Great Lakes Windsurfing, were on the lake to give non-competitors free lessons and a chance to try out equipment. "We want to give people a taste of windsurfing," Batchelor said. (RP)
