Michael Robert Treml

Michael Robert Treml, 46, Roscommon, died unexpectedly Oct. 28, 2008.

A service was held Nov. 1 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of the North, Roscommon, with Pastor Brad Lewis officiating. Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, handled arrangements. Interment was in Pioneer Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family for an educational fund to be established for Treml's children, Michael and Steven.

Mr. Treml was born July 28, 1962, in Manistee, the son of Jack and Kareen (Kovar) Treml. He grew up in Custer, where he developed a love for hunting and fishing.

He attended Mason County Schools, where he was an honor student and an exceptional athlete. In his junior year, he received honorable mention Class D All-State recognition and scored his 1,000th career point in basketball. As a senior, he received first team All-State honors.

Following graduation in 1980, he worked in the carpentry trade for two years until moving to the Muskegon- Whitehall area, where he worked at Fisher Steel & Supply for several years in the scrap metal industry.

On Nov. 9, 1991, he and Cindy Funnell were married in Whitehall, where they lived until 1993, when they moved to the Roscommon area. He continued to work in the scrap metal industry, and those who worked with him will remember him as the hardest worker they had known.

Mr. Treml was a loving and devoted husband and father. He coached Little League teams for both of his sons and was the field maintenance representative. While raising his boys, he passed on his love of the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, mushrooming or just enjoying the moment.

He was a member of the White Lake Eagles Aerie 3214 and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of the North.

Surviving Mr. Treml are his wife, Cindy; two sons, Michael and Steven; parents, Jack and Kareen Treml of Custer; three brothers, John and his wife Kathy Treml of Rudyard, Mark Treml of Knightdale, NC, and Jim Treml of Custer; sister, Jill and her husband Steve Stickney of Custer; sister-inlaw, Nancy and her husband Jim Long of Muskegon; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
