Grayling event to offer help with coping with loss during holidays

Mercy Hospice will partner with Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home to host a program focused on "Coping with a Loss during the Holiday Season" Nov. 12 at the Crawford County Commission on Aging.

Mary Beth Brady, bereavement coordinator for Mercy Hospice, and Terrie Lockwood, funeral director at Sorenson- Lockwood Funeral Home, will share ideas for coping during the holiday season. There will also be printed literature available.

The event is intended for those who have experienced a loss and are in need of support to help cope with the changes that take place after that loss. Organizers said the first holidays after the death of a loved one can be especially difficult and their goal is to provide help before the holidays arrive. Attendees can bring pictures or mementoes that remind them of loved ones.

The event starts at 1:30 p.m., and refreshments will be served after the program. Organizers ask that those planning to attend call Mary Beth Brady at (989) 344-4410, and leave a message with how many will be attending. The Crawford County Commission on Aging is at 308 Lawndale, Grayling.
