83rd District Court

Judge Daniel L. Sutton recently arraigned the following in 83rd District Court, Roscommon:

Michael J. McCullough, 50, Houghton Lake, waived preliminary examination and was bound over to Circuit Court where he pleaded no contest to embezzlement by a trustee or agent between $1,000 and $20,000 (amended from embezzlement by a trustee or agent between $20,000 and $50,000). State Police, Houghton Lake, made the arrest. The date of offense was June 1, 2008, through Dec. 10, 2008. Bond was set at $10,000. McCullough will be sentenced in Circuit Court.

Stuart B. Miller, 54, Hayward, waived preliminary examination and was bound over to Circuit Court where he pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, third offense. The Roscommon County Sheriff's Department made the April 14 arrest. Bond was set at $100,000. Miller will be sentenced in Circuit Court.

Edith D. Turner, 47, Pontiac, pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery and two counts of uttering and publishing a forged instrument. Richfield Township Police and State Police, Houghton Lake, made the arrest. The date of offense was Aug. 28, 2008. Bond was set at $200,000. Turner will be sentenced in Circuit Court.

Shawn J. Beckett, 24, Houghton Lake, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of larceny from a motor vehicle. State Police, Houghton Lake, made the arrest. The date of offense was April 20 through 21. Bond was set at $5,000.

Rhandi J. Reffitt, 19, Roscommon, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000. State Police, Houghton Lake, made the March 25 arrest. Bond was set at $100.

The following were sentenced after pleading guilty to charges filed against them:

Kirk L. Donaldson, 26, Prudenville, impaired driving: $860 in fines, costs or restitution, six months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Dennis M. Nordstrom, 56, St. Helen, impaired driving: $1,150 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Richard T. Smith, 36, Vanderbilt, impaired driving: $1,150 in fines, costs or restitution, six months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Paul M. Stevens, 25, Utica, impaired driving: $1,150 in fines, costs or restitution, six months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Charles E. Smith, 37, Taylor, transporting open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and reckless driving: $810 in fines, costs or restitution, six months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Shawn A. Gourde, 18, St. Helen, possession of marijuana: $400 in fines, costs or restitution, and 30 days license suspension.

Calvin J. Colman, 27, Gladwin, possession of marijuana: $650 in fines, costs or restitution, and 30 days license suspension.

James A. Dean, 21, Houghton Lake, possession of marijuana: $400 in fines, costs or restitution, six months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Joseph M. Jurkovich, 23, Prudenville, use of marijuana: $300 in fines, costs or restitution, and 30 days license suspension.

Michael Anthony M. Meir, 19, St. Helen, malicious destruction of personal property between $200 and $1,000: 30 days in jail, $1,523.15 in fines, costs or restitution, and six months probation. The defendant must pay $305 in fines and costs or serve 30 days in jail.

The following demanded preliminary examination within 14 days:

Eric C. Foyt, 23, Houghton Lake, driving while intoxicated, third offense. The sheriff's department made the April 19 arrest. Bond was set at $100,000.

The following were sentenced after pleading guilty to charges filed against them:

Jacob P. Blanchard, 20, Houghton Lake, impaired driving: $800 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Matthew S. Tillman, 51, Houghton Lake, breaking and entering illegally without owner's permission: $934 in fines, costs or restitution.

Eric E. Wetherington, 30, Roscommon, malicious destruction of a building less than $200: 30 days in jail with credit for 26 days, and $663.16 in fines, costs and restitution.

Linda L. Brookshire, 59, West Branch, abandoned animal: $910 in fines, costs or restitution, and six months probation.

Carol A. Snider, 49, West Branch, driving with a suspended license, second offense: $600 in fines, costs or restitution, six months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Michael J. Burhans, 29, Lake Odessa, attempted third degree child abuse: 17 days in jail with credit for 17 days, $770 in fines, costs or restitution, and 12 months probation.

Jeffery M. Pomeroy, 40, Gaylord, transporting open intoxicants in a motor vehicle: $200 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Norman D. Pratt, 26, Grayling, driving with a suspended license, first offense: $250 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Robert A. Gross, 42, Rochester Hills, impaired driving: $2,132.10 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.
