Shirley Irene Hardy

Former Houghton Lake resident Shirley Irene Hardy, 91, Pulaski, TN, died July 5, 2009, at the home of her son in Pulaski.
A service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, with Father Tony Cureton officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Mrs. Hardy was born June 22, 1918, in Detroit, the daughter of the late George P. and Thelma Irene (Irey) Snyder. She and LeRoy A. Hardy were united in marriage June 17, 1937, in Detroit. Her husband preceded her in death in 2006, after 69 years together.
The couple moved to the Houghton Lake area from  Royal Oak in 1977 and divided their time between Houghton Lake and Lady Lake, in Florida, until 2005.
Mrs. Hardy has lived the past several years with her son, James, and daughter-in-law, Cyndia. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Prudenville.
Predeceased besides her husband were her parents; and son, Patrick, in 1980.
Surviving are Mrs. Hardy’s two sons, James and his wife Cyndia Hardy of Tennessee, and William and his wife Melanie Hardy of Sterling Heights; two daughters, Shirley and her husband Larry Thebo of Holiday, FL, and Joan and her husband Ernie Collins of California; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
