St. Helen 6-year-old drowns A benefit for the family of a sixyear old St. Helen girl who drowned in Otsego Lake Sunday is scheduled for today (Thursday) at Lures Family Restaurant in St. Helen. Lures owner Barbara Stockman said all proceeds from a spaghetti dinner will go to the family of Aileen (Bjorn) R. Nuttall, who was a kindergartner at St. Helen Elementary School. Stockman said the restaurant is donating the food, and all proceeds will go to the family. Prices are $8 per adult and $4 per child. Serving will be from 4 p.m. to closing time. The restaurant has a donation jar for contributions from people who do not wish to participate in the dinner. Otsego County Sheriff's Deputy Sarah Holzschu said deputies were called around 2 p.m. Sunday to the Otsego Lake County Park, where Miss Nuttall was with a group from Gaylord's Grace Baptist Church. "Good Samaritans" had taken Miss Nuttall out of the water and were performing CPR when officers arrived, Holzschu said. The child was transported to Otsego Memorial Hospital, where she later was pronounced dead. Holzschu said the girl was not wearing a life jacket. The water temperature was 78 degrees. Stockman said she has an address to which cards to the Nuttall family may be sent. The phone number at Lures is 389-7558. Miss Nuttall's obituary is on page A3 of this week's Resorter. |
