Silver Dollar takes top spot

(Photo by Thomas Reznich) With back-to-back victories Shenanigan's kept its pace among the Division II leaders in the Houghton Lake Women's Softball League. Two weeks ago Shenanigan's downed Spikehorn Bar 22-3 and last Thursday they defeated Kilkare 10-9 and now sport a 4-1-1 record behind Old Town Tavern, who defeated Long Branch 20-2 to remain undefeated in five games.

In other games Thursday night Mid- Michigan defeated Sergeant's 18-3 and Silver Dollar clipped Limberlost 14-10. There were no game reports for Spikehorn Booners or Navigator-Hodges.

Shenanigan's 10, Kilkare 9

Shenanigan's had a 9-4 lead going into the 4th inning but allowed Kilkare to sore five runs in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game but Shenanigan's saved their victory with a run scored in the bottom of the inning.

Jenn Krummer was the winning pitcher, walking one and striking out one. She also helped her cause by hitting 3-3 with three RBIs; Ali Pease hit 2-2 and had two RBIs; Tracey Haggart was 2-3 with two RBIs, one double and a home run; Michelle Sypien was 1-2 and Tammy Monday and Wendy Miles were 1-3.

Silver Dollar 14, Limberlost 10

Limberlost had a 4-0 lead after the 1st inning that held until the 3rd inning when Silver Dollar scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Silver Dollar added five runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and three in the 6th inning to cap their victory. Limberlost scored three runs in the 5th inning and three more in the 6th inning.

Hitting for Limberlost were Angel Mashue, Kali Henry, Pam Kauffman and Feather Huffman who were 2-4. Limberlost had 13 hits to Silver Dollar's 11, but six strike outs by Limberlost hurt thier cause.
