This governor has good reason to resign
      The surprise resignation of Sarah Palin as governor of Alaska has bumped South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford from the front page. While the reasons for Palin's decision are unclear, there is no lack of evidence why Sanford should step down. Like Palin, Sanford was elected on a platform that included heavy emphasis on moral values.

Relay's observance
      Being the 25th anniversary of the Relay for Life this year's theme of Happy Birthday is appropriate not only for recognizing the longevity of Relay, but also for the happiness that can be shared from sometimes sorrowful circumstances.

60th Bluegill Festival
      This weekend the community of St. Helen will celebrate its 60th Bluegill Festival with activities spread over four days. The festival is among the few in the state that can trace its roots back to the 1950s, the other is Houghton Lake's Tip-up Town, U.S.A., which will mark its 60th anniversary next January.

      Car Seat Law Changes Effective July 1, 2009 1.) Children younger than 4 years old must ride in the rear seat of the vehicle, if the vehicle has a rear seat. a. If all available seats are occupied by children under 4 then a child under 4 may ride in the front seat if properly restrained in a car seat.

Tip-up Town Update
      A special thank you goes out to Kent Straub and Frank Borschke for taking time out of their busy schedule to bring the heavy equipment and move all the Tip-up Town booths on such short notice. Now with easy access the booths are ready to be repaired and painted for the upcoming 60th anniversary of TUT.
