Silver Dollar, Old Town women's division champions

Silver Dollar Bar and Old Town Tavern were champions in their respective divisions in the Houghton Lake Women's Softball League with neither team's lead being challenged. The two division champs will play tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at Roscommon Township #1.

Silver Dollar finished the season with a 12-3 record in Division One with Limberlost 2nd at 9-6, Team Hodges 3rd at 8-7, MidMichigan 6-9 for 4th, Sergeant's Excavating and Navigator Wireless 5-10 tied for 5th.

Old Town won Division Two with a 13-0 record followed by G's at 8-5, Shenanigan's 3rd with a 7-5-1 record, Spikehorn and Kilkare at 7-6 tied for 4th, Booner's 6th at 1-10-1 and Long Branch 7th at 1-12.

In last Thursday's games Old Town beat Long Branch 23-2; Shenanigan's fell to Kilkare 13-11; Silver Dollar ran over Team Hodges 16-9; Spikehorn nailed Booner's 9-1 and Limberlost beat Sergeant's 13-8.

In Kilkare's 13-11 upset of Shenanigan's Virginia Miller was the winning pitcher. Malissa Blake and Melysa Ross led Kilkare hitting 3-4 each; Tina Parks was 2-4; Alyson Parks, Jill Trahan and Danielle Parks hit 1-3 with Parks getting a home run; Dawn Thornton was 1-2 and Katie Trahan 1-1.

Limberlost came from behind in the 3rd inning with six runners scoring to go into the 4th inning with a 6-5 lead. Then three runs scored in the 4th inning and three more in the 5th inning gave them the victory margin.

Angel Mashue and Kali Henry hit 3-4 for Limberlost, Henry had a triple; Vicki Lorenz and Tamara Burdett were both 2-3 with Burdett getting a triple.
