Why are drunk drivers still on the road?
I’m MADD! It has been three years since two young bicyclists were hit by a drunk driver in my neighborhood. One was killed, the other critically injured. Since that time, over 35,000 Americans have been killed by alcohol-related accidents. Why are we not up-in-arms because of this tragic slaughter of life? Some states now mandate that a driver with driving under the influence conviction must have a device on his or her car into which the driver must breathe. If the driver is over the limit, the car will not start. To lose a family member fighting for America is a terrible loss. Losing a child because of a drunk driver is just as painful. If you would like to be heard, you may contact Mothers Against Drunk Driving www.madd.org or (800) GET-MADD. Ryan McDonald used to slide on our winter icy slope. We miss you and will never forget you, Ryan.
