Santa’s Workshop to welcome children Sunday

The Houghton Lake Merchant’s Association will host the annual Santa’s Workshop Sunday at the Houghton Lake Historical Playhouse, Prudenville.

Kids’ make-it-and-take-it crafts of all kinds, cookie-making, games and clowns are just part of the fun. Upon entry, kids drop their tickets into a bucket to enter a chance to win a girl’s bike or a boy’s bike. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” even greets visitors at the door.

Live music, provided by Frank “TBear” Thibert, a balloon artist from Canada and an area set aside for making wood crafts can all be found inside the Playhouse. Kids can get their faces painted, mail a letter from Santa’s Mailbox, walk through a Christmas “castle,” and enter a coloring contest.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be waiting in their sleigh to visit with children and learn about their Christmas wishes.

Representatives from the Miss Houghton Lake Scholarship Program will also be in attendance. Other visitors include Ronald McDonald, Little Caesar, Dollar Dog and Walking Taco.

Other than vendors who will have items on display to sell, the entire event is free.
