Patricia Mae Ignat

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon, Monday, Nov. 30, for Patricia Mae Ignat, 84, Prudenville at St. James Catholic Church on Houghton Lake’s North Shore. Fr. Bernard Tyler will officiate. Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township.

Mrs. Ignat had been a resident of King Nursing Centre for several weeks before her death Nov. 23, 2009.

Mrs. Ignat was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of J. Reginald and Lucile Deutcher Kilp. She and Mike Mircea Ignat, were married March 27, 1965. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oshkosh, WI. He died Feb. 9, 2009.

She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s College, St. Paul MN, and was a registered dietician. She worked for the food service company at Glacier National Park, MT; Holiday Inn of Memphis, TN; and Elizabeth Kennedy Polio Hospital, Minneapolis, and was the head dietician for Prudential Insurance Co, in Minneapolis. While working at Prudential, she hired Mike Ignat to work in the food service. Her specialty at the time was setting up kitchens. After Mr. and Mrs. Ignat were married, they formed a company and provided the food service for the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. They also had owned and operated a restaurant in Oshkosh, The King’s Table. After starting a family, she worked part time as a consultant in the food industry.

Mrs. Ignat moved to Houghton Lake with her husband and family in 1981 from Florida.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and active in the St. James Women’s Club. She hosted several social events for the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce while her husband served as executive director of the chamber.

Survivors include three children, Michael (Dawn) Ignat of Houghton Lake, Maria (Eric) Townsley of Scottsdale, AZ, and Paul (Michelle) Ignat of Wesley Chapel, FL; step-daughter, Carmen (Walter) Wanczycki, Buffalo, MN; and grandchildren, Jon Michael, Jane, Jenny, Jeanne, Nickolas, Matthew, Jenael, Michael A., Courtney, Kelli, Hayden and Lucy. She is also survived by a brother, Richard Kilp of Tennessee, and a sister, Mary Lou Rhyner of Neenah, WI.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ignat Scholarship Fund of the Roscommon County Community Foundation or the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Homes, West Branch, handled the arrangements.
