83rd District Court

Judge Daniel L. Sutton recently arraigned the following in 83rd District Court, Roscommon:

Shaun M. Barnett, 30, Coldwater, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of delivery/manufacture of marijuana. The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department made the Jan. 22 arrest. Bond was set at $2,500.

Bradley B. Berger, 23, St. Helen, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of resisting and obstructing police. Richfield Township Police made the Jan. 29 arrest. Bond was set at $5,000.

Stephen R. Bixler, 34, Gladwin, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of unlawfully driving away an automobile. The sheriff’s department made the arrest. The date of offense was Nov. 15, 2009. Bond was set at $15,000.

Robert J. Paczkowski, 25, Warren, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (alprazolam). The sheriff’s department made the Jan. 20 arrest. Bond was set at $10,000.

Freddy T. Prince, 29, Roscommon, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of conspiracy to delivery/manufacture less than 50 grams of morphine. The sheriff’s department made the arrest. The date of offense was Oct. 21, 2009. Bond was set at $50,000.

Edward L. Ross, 48, St. Helen, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of domestic violence, third offense. The sheriff’s department made the Jan. 25 arrest. Bond was set at $10,000.

Norman L. Thompson, 39, Houghton Lake, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third offense. Denton Township Police made the arrest. The date of offense was May 24, 2008. Bond was set at $20,000.

Kathleen A. Tyson, 40, St. Helen, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on one count of stealing a financial transaction device and one count of illegal use of a financial transaction device. Richfield Township Police made the Jan. 4 arrest. Bond was set at $5,000.

Samantha E. Wallace, 27, Houghton Lake, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of embezzlement between $1,000 and $20,000. The sheriff’s department made the arrest. The date of offense was Sept. 1, 2008. Bond was set at $200.

Russell S. Yankee, 84, Saginaw, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of delivery/manufacture of marijuana. Richfield Township Police made the Jan. 19 arrest. Bond was set at $500.

The following pleaded guilty to charges filed against them and were sentenced:

Fred T. Prince, 29, Roscommon, impaired driving: 60 days in jail, $532 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Charles R. Stoia, 58, Berkley, impaired driving: Seven days in jail, $1,030 in fines, costs or restitution, 12 months probation, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Nicolas T. Bratcher, 22, Roscommon, driving with a suspended license, first offense: $410 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

David F. Cluck, 48, Houghton Lake, driving with a suspended license, first offense: $560 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Cheyenne W. Mead, 19, St. Helen, driving with a suspended license, first offense: $410 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Brian E. Bennett, 32, Prudenville, domestic violence: 63 days in jail with credit for 63 days, and 12 months probation.

Travis G. Craft, 28, Houghton Lake, two counts of domestic violence: Two sentences of 65 days in jail with credit for 65 days, and 12 months probation.

Leah M. Venner, 43, Oscoda, writing a nonsufficient-funds check between $200 and $1,000: 16 days in jail with credit for 16 days, and $450 in fines, costs or restitution.

Marilyn K. Fleming, 66, Merrill, third degree retail fraud: 15 days in jail, and $360 in fines, costs or restitution.

Violation of hunter orange apparel: Lonnie W. Heward, $165.

Transporting a loaded gun in a motor vehicle: John L. Curry, $215.

Violation of November shining ban: Chester H. Schneider, $1,465.

Failure to register otter within three business days of April 30: James A. Hatfield, $165.

No snowmobile trail permit: Jason L. Roster, $60; and Christopher J. Edwards, $60.
