Robert J. Beattie, 79, Prudenville, died Feb. 7, 2010, at the Mid-Michigan Gladwin Pines Nursing Center.  

In following with Mr. Beattie’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public services held. Burial will be in Clay, KY, next to his maternal grandparents who raised him. Arrangements were handled by Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin.

 

Mr. Beattie was born July 21, 1930, to Robert and Edna Beattie in Bowling Green, KY. He graduated from Murray State University in 1953. He and Joyce Barnes of Houghton Lake were married in 1954. He worked for General Motors for 33 years before retiring, was then called in to work on the Saturn car while it was getting ready for production, leaving from there to go to Ford Motor Company and continuing on with his job of international compliance for seven years.

 

Surviving besides his wife, Joyce, are two children, Sharon Ross of Houghton Lake and Thomas Beattie of Houghton Lake; six grandchildren, Sean Ross of Texas, Nicholas Ross of Houghton Lake, Brandon, Orye and Stormy Beattie of Sterling Heights, and Justin Beattie of Houghton Lake.
