Sheltrown to seek state senate seat
State Representative Joel Sheltrown (D-West Branch) has announced his intention to seek election to the Michigan State Senate.
Sheltrown is running as a Democrat for the 36th District which covers Midland, Gladwin, Ogemaw, Iosco, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Otsego, Montmorency and Alpena counties. Roscommon County voters are in the 35th District.
In explaining his decision to run for the Senate, Sheltrown said, “We are in an economic war for jobs in this state. Representation for our region has largely been neglected. Our next senator needs to be someone who will very actively pursue economic development and who has the backbone to challenge the bureaucracy in Lansing and forces that are holding us back.”
