Paramedic Kathy Pardo-Carlson will be interim EMS coordinator for the Higgins Township Fire/EMS Department, the township board decided in special session March 4.

The board, at its March 1 regular meeting, appointed Assistant Fire Chief Jack Sheppard as interim chief of the department. Fire Chief Mike Umphrey and EMS Coordinator Megan Bradley Feb. 25 abruptly resigned not only from their supervisory positions, but as members of the department.

At last week’s special meeting, the board took no action after conducting a disciplinary hearing for an employee.
