83rd District Court

the following in 83rd District Court, Roscommon:

Thomas J. Ash, 50, Prudenville, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on charges of third degree child abuse and interfering with electronic communications. Denton Township Police made the arrest. The date of offense was Feb. 26. Bond was set at $2,000.

Daniel J. Lafond, 54, Benton Harbor, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third offense. The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department made the March 2 arrest. Bond was set at $5,000.

Thomas R. Richards, 46, Bay City, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of delivery/ manufacture of marijuana. Richfield Township Police made the arrest. The date of offense was March 1. Bond was set at $5,000.

Christopher A. Robbins, 26, Houghton Lake, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on a charge of third degree fleeing and eluding. Denton Township Police made the arrest. The date of offense was Feb. 18. Bond was set at $20,000.

George R. VanDuinen, 55, Merritt, demanded preliminary examination

within 14 days on a charge of felonious assault. The sheriff’s department made American Diabetes the March 12 arrest. Bond was set at $5,000.

Lorita J. VanDuinen, 44, Prudenville, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on charges of felonious assault, felon in possession of a firearm and interfering with electronic communications. The sheriff’s department made the March 12 arrest. Bond was set at $20,000.

Gard A. Verbeke, 45, St. Helen, demanded preliminary examination within 14 days on three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. Michigan State Police, Houghton Lake, made the arrest. The dates of offense were June 1, 2008, through Jan. 20, 2010. Bond was set at $250,000.

The following pleaded guilty to charges filed against them and were sentenced:

Willis J. Elkins II, 27, St. Helen, impaired driving: $810 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

Dwight D. Wheeler, 52, Romulus, impaired driving: $910 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State.

April A. McKee, 24, Roscommon, driving with a suspended license, second offense: $460 in fines, costs or restitution, and the conviction was reported to the Secretary of State. Alert Day
