Snowmobiles to race up Snow Snake at weekend event

Snow Snake Ski and Golf in Harrison is hosting its Second Annual Snowmobile Hill Climb Races this Saturday and Sunday.

The event is sponsored by the Central Ontario Snowmobile Drag Racing Association, who sanction summer and winter events in Ontario, Michigan and New York. Four sleds compete side-byside during the 600 foot runs, racing over one of two hills. One run is flat and the other has three jumps.

There will be testing events on Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., with the races taking place on Saturday and Sunday; gates will open at 8 a.m. and shows start at noon. General Admission is $10 for a day pass and children under 12 get in free. Refreshments and food will be available, so make it a family fun day and come out to support Harrison’s winter sports and enjoy the weekend!

There are three class divisions and all snowmobilers can race. Safety gear is mandatory and all racers must have a full face helmet and a “Tekvest” is recommended.

Testing events will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with racing starting Saturday. Gates open at 8 a.m. and racing starts at noon. Admission is $10 and children under 12 are free. Refreshments will be available.
