COMPLICATED CRASH


Firefighters and EMS personnel tend to the victims of a three-vehicle accident which occurred on M-55 about 50 feet west of Knapp Road at 11:29 a.m. on May 24. According to State Police, the accident began when a car driven by William Hamel, 22, of Houghton Lake attempted to cross M-55 onto Heightsview Drive when he struck a westbound vehicle driven by Bruce Sandera, 55, of Houghton Lake. The impact drove Hamel’s vehicle into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a vehicle driven by Richard Dennis, 48, of Holly. Dennis and passenger Dell Dennis, 75, of Lapeer were both injured and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Grayling by Houghton Lake and Denton Township ambulances. Hamel was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
