Porters celebrate 60 years

Jack and Eve Porter Jack and Eve Porter Eve and Jack Porter of Prudenville will celebrate 60 years of marriage June 17.

Married in 1950 in Muskegon, they have two children, Debra Demeester of South Lyon and Lt. Col. Jack Porter of Milan.

A celebration with family is planned June 19 at the Mid Forest Lodge Clubhouse. The Porters will also celebrate their son’s return from Afghanistan.

The Porters have spent many summers at their cottage in Canada’s Georgian Bay area. They enjoy hunting at Mid Forest Lodge. Mr. Porter also hunts in other states and in Canada.

They attend Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and serve on several committees. Mr. Porter has played golf at White Deer Country Club for 25 years. Mrs. Porter is a member of the Red Scarletts, a Red Hat Ladies group. The two also volunteer at Mid Forest Lodge.

The Porters have been retired for 25 years. Mr. Porter retired from Marsh and McLennan Companies, subsequent to several years of selfemployment in the insurance industry. Mrs. Porter is retired from teaching (in Detroit and Lansing) and real estate.
