Rosco Township fire hall drive to be re-bid

A driveway project for the Roscommon Township Fire Department will be re-bid, following approval by the township board July 6.

Fire Chief Dick Martin said there are new bid specifications that include a wrap-around approach to a side door.

“I think we need it,” Martin said, when Trustee Tammy Muckenthaler questioned the need for the improvement.

The board discussed the property where a future fire hall is to be built; however, Martin reminded the board voters had twice turned down a millage for construction.

The board ended up voting 5-0 in favor of re-advertising for bids for the project.

The existing concrete is to be demolished and the driveway is to be poured one bay door width at a time. A special meeting is set for July 29 to open the bids and to hold a budget work session.

In other matters, the board approved the purchase of a new $8,994.74 John Deere mower for the Houghton Lake Airport at 0% interest over two years.

The next Board of Review is set for July 20 (for errors and omissions only).

Dog and cat licenses will be available for sale at the township hall.
