Thomas Matthew 'Tim' Houck

Thomas Matthew "Tim" Houck, 60, Traverse City, died Sept. 5, 2010, at his home.
A service will be held Friday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City, with a luncheon to follow at the Eagles  Club. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Special memories may be shared by signing the guestbook at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.
Mr. Houck was born Aug. 1, 1950, in Elbert, WV, to Robert and Mary (Clair) “Tootsie” Houck, who preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Eagles and was an avid fisherman and great storyteller. There was always a story or joke to be told, but one thing he always said was “Keep your top drawer full of smiles and put them in your pocket when you go out. Spread them around and you will never be without a smile!”
After moving to Houghton Lake, he worked for his sister, Dora, at the Back Door Saloon. He moved to Traverse City and worked maintenance for McDonald’s and Burger King for many years. He was a jack of all trades.
Surviving are his companion of 21 years, Sharon; two sons, Donald and his wife Jesse Phillips and Michael Maynard; two grandchildren, Halle and Marshal Phillips; brother, Doug; sisters, Dora and her husband Kevin Kelsey and Cheryl and her husband James Faircloth; in-laws, Leonard and his wife Cindy Delikta; James Delikta, Carl Delikta, Donna and her husband John Klarr and Beverly and her husband Stan Pirozek; numerous nieces and nephews including a very special nephew and niece, Peter and his wife Trista Tacconelli and Kristin Tacconelli; great-nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family. Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City, handled the arrangements.
