Lake audit ‘good’ overall
Lake Township received an overall good report from its auditors Tuesday at the regular monthly meeting.
Supervisor Stan Christler said a representative from Weinlander Fitzhugh of Bay City, Clare, Gladwin and West Branch presented the audit for the fiscal year ending March, 2010.
Christler said the township is in “great shape,” but added auditors would like to see better communication between the clerk and treasurer and suggested accounting changes that would result in reporting figures differently.
Christler said the board may decide to shop around for a new auditor, as the firm billed the township approximately $13,000 which included extra work. The board Tuesday approved paying the firm about $12,000, he said.
