South Branch and Higgins Township firefighters battle a blaze that destroyed the Kurt Loll residence, 2205 Contour Drive, on the South Branch of the Au Sable River, Oct. 22. A neighbor, Mylene Klein, saw the fire and reported it at 9 a.m. The Loll family was not home, but their cat and dog perished in the fire.
